Almost a week now. Did you get your points?
Keres-Alexander, Hastings 1954/55 Roots of Positional Understanding

couple things. The point of the lesson is to learn the positional roots not what a computer thinks. All computers don't even think alike. you are really missing the points of the lessons if you have fritz open during the lesson.

i didn't have fritz open during the lesson. i found the top move just by looking at it for an hour and trying to find the best move.
i was hoping to learn something about "positional roots", but maybe it's just too hard for me. I mean, I can't help thinking, "why do i need to learn about positional roots when I can find better moves than the guy trying to teach me about positional roots already?"
ummmm, I made a slightly better move than the mentor wanted me to find, the number 1 move according to fritz, 1. Ne5!!. it said that was an alternate correct move and said that it lead to a complicated tactical melee. I'm like, "who cares, it was the BEST move! I want my points! (and i think it said that that's what the dude played in the actual game too!)
and the move it recommended was the 4th best according to fritz, and before i finally found it i even made the 2nd best move according to fritz, 1. Nh4! and it told me that was an incorrect move!
The move it wanted was 1. Bb5 which is not even as good as playing 1. Nd2 according to fritz. it's actually decided it's the 5th best move after thinking about it for 5 minutes while i wrote this.
it's a complicated mess of a position so i'm upset that i lost like 60 points or so after spending an hour on it. how do i get my rightful points back?
i should get 150% of the amount of points for it.oh, and btw, this lesson was totally lame and stupid and not good, and should be removed. thanx!
