I recommend "reviewing" what you already know from the start using the provided "lessons" in this website in the role of mentor. let the lessons mentor you. especially since so many possibilities each game is different.
Looking for a mentor please

I can recommend this coach. I've been working with him for some month. He is very dedicated and knows his stuff.

Hello.
I use to play chess in the 5th grade chess club (no, that wasn't last year... I'm almost 30 now). Anyway, I haven't played since my glory days in the 5th grade haha but I created this account on Chess.com maybe a week or 2 ago and I am looking to get back into it and I want to be good. I've always loved the game and recently found my way back to it. Needless to say, I have the basics down but am a terrible player.
I've been watching YouTube videos a lot and trying to study famous games online and "think like a grand master", however I fail miserably (as you can tell by my games and rating). I know I have a lot of work cut out for me and time is my best friend, but I wanted to make sure I'm spending my energy in improving the most efficient way I can before going full steam ahead and committing to a sub-par training regime. I've looked into a professional chess coach as well but the steep price is just not worth it at this level of the game. I don't want to pay $300+ for 6 sessions of basic material (estimating the price but pretty close).
I'm making this post to try and get a mentor to help me improve. I was hoping there was someone nice (and good) enough to help me out getting me in the right direction to improve? Something a little more personal than recommending YouTube videos. I'm always up for an educational video to study, but I'm looking for a partner to help with the hands-on side to make my learning experience more enjoyable and effective.
Thanks for your time.
