I'm just making a semieducated guess here based on my own experience, but generally if you don't get any points, it's because the lesson was considered easy. You're at 1820 already so you were expected to know the answer. You probably wouldn't have gotten points even at 100%. Hope that helps...
No points for 95% completion

OK, thanks :-)
Followup question is: why would chess.com propose an easy lesson then? Looks like a losing proposition to me.

You're welcome. There are around 4,000 lessons that vary in difficulty from under 1000 to over 2000. Has to be something for everyone.

Chess mentor isn't realy about the points you gain though if the lesson was useful. If it wasn't useful I assume you would have skipped it?

What I mean is: chess.com knows my puzzle rating, why not feed me stuff around my rating?
I think most of us get tired of the whole sequential/adaptive dance and end up just studying courses we find interesting. What seems like a good idea ends up just being annoying. If you ain't having fun, you probably won't stick to it. Sigh...

I think point system should be adjusted as the level and your problems are computer selected according to your past performance. Just now I scored 82% and lost 2 points, previously scored 65% amd lost 5 points.
It is not satisfying (or gratifying) if you only score points with 100% success, and even those points are less than a handful.
This is Africa and is a common question. How can I improve, who is the guy to approach and what is his account number ?

What i've noticed is that they switch to a very basic course after you have completed a very hard one...perhaps you have to complete the easy ones first, before you complete the hard ones?

was thinking the same thing myself... but like someone already mentioned points are not the goal, so i pick wateva lesson looks interesting. the thing is, if we score 100% on a lesson we actually don't even see material on inferior moves. i immediately "Review" the lesson and make different moves the second time jst to see wat Mr.Mentor has to say... it doesn't change the initial score and seems to help cement the lesson into my inferior (according to forum threads) girly brain

You can choose lessons and courses that you want in chess mentor. You can also adjust it to your rating level.

Yeah this tool isn't primarily about earning rating points, it's about learning, and the rating seeks to reflect your current level of learning with it. So it does take into account your current rating and the difficulty of the lesson, you can get 100% and get 0 for instance, and if you get one of those wrong you will take a big hit. You can also get 0% and get 0 as well if it's tough enough compared to your rating.
I've found this to be very well designed and in fact it tends to be a little too generous at times I'd say, but it's all relative really and you do get a pretty good idea of how you are progressing, which is the only thing that matters. Regardless of what score you get though, what you want is to come away with the lesson, that's the point, and this will help you score better in future lessons as well as become more proficient in playing the game.
I completed todays chess mentor lesson and got the following result:
Score: 95%
Classement 1820 (-0)
Why did I get 0 points?
