What is the Purpose of the Drills????

I ask myself this a lot too. I guess its to put you in specific situations that you can play rather than trying to get a bot to play into a certain scenario. I think some of them can be helpful for endgames or opening lines.
My question is: do you need to play every drill to the end of the game? For instance, if you're practicing the scotch gambit scenario in 'Attacking' can you just win a piece or a material advantage using the gambit and then exit the drill? Or is it designed for you to play through the whole game after??

I find the endgame drills very useful and frustrating, as many of them are hard. I recognise the endgame as my main weakness and must improve basic technique. I am going through these drills one by one until I cannot fail them. Frustrating to return to one I had pat and suddenly fail it again the first few times. Anyway, what I find surprising and disappointing is that if I get really stumped, and use the hints to see how it is done, the hint route often loses! Good example is the ‘opposition master’ drill. Here, it is either easy if the engine co-operates, and one hits the repetition, or apparently impossible if it sneaks into the g file, and on that approach, even using every hint move loses. WTF, as the kids would say.
