Nepo drew first blood in game 2.

Now Ding took revenge in game 4.

Ding has got to play faster. He has consistently been lower on time than Ian and today it bit him in the butt, choking under time pressure. Very exciting match so far, five decisive results out of 7 games! Best WC match I have seen in ten years.

It's a good match, especially with them trading wins 71% of the time. That won't last, I expect a lot of draws in the 2nd half.

But like Garry Kasparov said, which I agree with, this isn't really a world championship match without the best player in it. Something like that, he mightve worded it different.

A fun counterpoint:

Garry Kasparov also commented on a previous World Championship, when Carlsen drew the final classical game against Caruana.

Kasparov said that it showed Carlsen didn't have what it takes, and was losing his nerve.

Carlsen was annoyed, and responded by saying that, "Garry is entitled to his stupid opinions."

Complete meltdown by Ding in Game 7. About equal, and a couple of moves later, dead lost. The only positive thing is it gets him closer to Game 8 which he'll obviously win and get back to 4-4.

Oh, I didn't know Magnus was referring to Garry when he said that.

I'm having the thought that there should be a second commentary team and channel.

One to look at analysis for possible future moves as we have now, but also a second team to explain why a move was made and never mind predicting future moves in that commentary channel.

At the moment I'm turning the audio off and looking at the moves that have been made.

Go to Events, choose the WCC (top of the list), then choose Games. You can watch the game board live without any chat, and make your own decisions. Or you can tap on the board (if you have the app, I assume you click somewhere if you are on a computer) and watch what Stockfish 15 thinks.

I wish Ding would play as though there is such a thing as a chess clock. This is not just about Game 7. He ran his time way down in some of the earlier games, and he's doing it again today (Game 8)!.

He just made a pre-move.

Ha! He has learned! Cute psych-out there. Ding ran the clock down to almost nothing at move 39 and then made move 40!

Very wild.

This WC match has been spectacular so far.
