Hey, uh... I am a curious and politically minded American, and I try to stay as well informed as possible with the media that is available to me online (I am neither ignorant or narrow minded enough to believe that American media would ever have the ability or the motivation to inform me about the rest of the world), so I do have an opinion on the war, based on the information that is available to me. With that said, this isn't the appropriate place to be having this discussion. It has been repeatedly asked that the political conversation be stopped or moved to prevent the locking of this thread, and that's not a request that is at all unreasonable. Regardless of your beliefs or affiliations, please show the appropriate respect for the memory of a man who was a gifted chess player, regardless of the origin of the orders that he was given, and was trying to carry out, at the time of his death.

The reason why I’m blocking people and not responding to arguments is because political debate is not allowed on the public forums. If I engage, then this thread will get locked by moderators. Instead, if one of my friends starts getting political, I PM him and ask him to stop, and if a stranger starts getting political I block him.

@BetaRealm, this post perfectly explains why I’m not responding.

While I agree with what you said, please keep this nonpolitical. We're trying to remember a chessplayer killed in the fighting, not discuss the politics surrounding the war.

Countries are torn in two. These are the days that were prophesied.
What?

While I clearly have strong feelings about the war, I do ask that we avoid discussion of politics, so that the mods don’t lock this thread.
Thanks!

Beside any political opinion, one must know and understand that Israel is a very small country in size. It has therefore no strategical depth at disposal and has no choice for survival than to react with much energy to every single threat or attack. Because it's that, or be wiped out.
In WW2, the Russians, attacked by the Germans, moved their industry to Sibiria, literally dismounting the factories, moving these by trains and trucks, and re-mounting these in the Urals and further East. Israel has no such option.
Just saying.
