According to FIDE news he got his spot, but I don't really get the timing of their post since the tournaments in London ended December 5th. Can someone please explain how many points are the blitz and rapid championships worth in the FIDE Circuit and why Pragg has qualified just now?

Praggnanadha R now has 115.17 Circuit points and has the first place. Excluding the players who have already qualified, we are left only with Nodirbek Abdusattorov who has 71.61 Circuit points. If he wins the World Rapid & Blitz (he has to win both), he gets around 42 Circuit Points, which wouldn't be enough to catch up to Pragg. Thus, Praggnanadha has qualified to the Candidates 2026

Why didn’t they already know before? Did they need the final list of World Championships participants in order to get the average of their Elo ratings?

No, it's not that, Abdusattorov had a chance till the end of the London Chess Classic - Rapidplay. Since he lost the last round, it's official. But, yeah, even before that, practically Pragg is in, mathematically not. But now, even if Nodirbek wins both the World Rapid & Blitz, he doesn't stand a chance.

Ah ok, thank you. I completely missed the rapid part in London actually. Guess the only one missing "officially" is Nakamura now, I don't really think it is possible that Carlsen is going to claim back his spot.
