Sure, it's not practical, I'm just saying ratings already do a good job of separating players by strength.
And I don't buy the whole top 10-15 bubble. Those players are the best, period.
You have to remember that 2750 vs 2650 is only 100 points. The math predicts only scoring 6.5 out of 10 for the higher rated player. Of course a 2750 player isn't going to crush an open... but that doesn't mean they aren't better.
If mr barely-2700 wants to join the big boys he has to do exactly what they did... win. It's not like 2750 players were airdropped into the top. They paid their dues.
