Should Magnus face some sort of penalty/fine for this?

Don’t know, but I just googled average arm length and it said 24 to 30 inches.

While we're speculating, we should go with even bigger numbers

I wasn't speculating, I was telling what google said.

He was close, but not that close. He was still a couple of feet away when Carlsen shoved him. If he had been like just a few inches away, I would agree with you.

How long armes do you think Magnus have?

Don’t know, but I just googled average arm length and it said 24 to 30 inches.

So the cameraman was 2 feet away (This is taking the 30 inch estimate) because he managed to shove the camera with his full hand and part of his arm

My point is, if he was in fact 2 feet away, can you really say the cameraman was "in his face"?

absolutely, 2 feet (max) is way toooooooooo close, cameras should be at least 2m away from players

Kind of stupid to be a foot away when you have a zoom lens. Intrusive and annoying.

I am not a camera or picture expert, but could there be some difference better a picture done with a zoom lens and one done with the camera physically close? If there any camera experts reading this, please chime in.

I assume you mean meters. Even so we will have to agree to disagree on whether 2 feet is too close.

You're equating a full arms length to the distance required to push. Unless he's trained with Bruce lee's one inch punch, bended elbows are called for. But since we're still speculating ...

You don't have to be an expert to speculate. We've established that much at least so far.

when he shoved the cameraman, it looked to be like he was about an arm's length away. Therefore, I googled what the average arm length was.
Maybe they were somewhere between 2 feet and 1.5 away from each other.

oops, I just realized that I made a mistake in this post. I meant " some difference between a picture done . . .", not better. Sorry.

like I said, I would be interesting to here from experts on this.

Being that close, you are either going to get a highly distorted view (because of wide angle lens) OR you are going to fill the frame with just part of his face. I guess you could charitably call it a stylistic choice, but frankly the cameraman had no need to be that close. It was provocative. Magnus was provoked. As I stated earlier, both need to be taken aside in private and told to not do it again. In the case of the cameraman, if he does do it again, I would revoke his press pass for some period of time.

For all I know, you are right.

No need to be rude and insulting. How about we stay away from ad hominems? Also it’s haven’t, not havent. See? We all make typos.

Yeah, sure, right.

It was a normal reaction. I found it more problematic when he pressed the clock in that one game in order to avoid losing on time, despite dropping half of the pieces.

NFL fines to protect there brand and wallet not because of some sense of justice. They have huge contracts with media, remember Marshawn.
