Good day chess players. Are some of you in trouble with 1.d4? Then try this out: 1.e6! This move is very smart for players that play the french because of 2.e4-d5! But I play c5 after d4-e6 e4 but d5 is much more popular.

After 1.d4-e6 2.c4 you have many different options! You can play QGD with d5, the dutch with 2.f5, Indian openings with 2.Nf6, or the e6-c5 opening with 2.c5!

Try this opening, it's not that bad! Smile

Yea any french player knows that

Yeah, 1...e6 is really useful for when white plays 1.d4 2.c4 and you get that special variation of the QGD, QID, Nimzo, Grunfeld, Dutch where 2.c4 was a bad move for white... oh wait.

In my not-so-valuable opinion, the only logical reason to answer 1.d4 with 1...e6, French defense transposition notwithstanding, is to answer 2.c4 with 2...b6.

Yeah, b6 is an option too!

I would love to be able to play 1...e6 against 1. d4, but then I'd have to learn how to play the mainlines of the French, and that seems like too much work! Although, at my level, I couldn't expect too many d4 players to transpose straight into an e4 opening so willingly... I'll have to try it I guess.

I am not a french playing chess player, but when someone playes d4 he/she is probably a d4 player that is not good in the french! But well, some people play 2.e4 but not many, at least against me. Then I play not wery much played opening that i don't even know what name it has. It is 1.d4-e6 2.d4-c5! It can transpose to Sicsilian like Paulsen, or a kind of a Benoni position after d4-e6 e4-c5 d5.
