I think people on this Thread have dismissed the move 7…Qf6 to Quickly.

I like it as a move!

Honestly, I am torn between 7…Qf6 and 7…Be6.

No one has mentioned 7…Be6 on this thread either for some change reason.

In the above position, White Light Square Bishop is completely and utterly annoying!

Every time I try to assemble a formation I like with the Black side pieces the LSB by White ruins my plans!

When you look at this position, White Bishop is a total monster of a piece!

I don’t like the move 7…Bd6

White & Black Knights seem even.

Both hitting the Center!

White Bishop looks like Monster!

Black Bishop looks like a Tall Pawn!

I don’t like Bd6 and I don’t like White having a Monster Light Square Bishop on e4!

I feel like the Light Square Bishop by White needs to be ELIMINATED!

I am going to create a Trade!

I just don’t know which Trading Sequence is Best!

7…Qf6 line I am exploring looks like below:

I doubt White would initiate the trade.

He would probably protect the Bishop.

Alternatively, I am liking the 7…Be6 line as well!

A very interesting/odd Bishop Maneuver!?

Wouldn’t you agree?

I think this strange little move has some merit!

My Computer Engine didn’t show 7…Be6 as an option. It wasn’t considered as a move.

Then when I manually played the move my computer engine changed its mind.

————————————

Now, it shows the move 7…Be6 as 3rd Best move!

Black Light Bishop is pretty useless!

White Light Bishop is extremely active hitting both the queen side & king side!

A very Textbook way of dealing with such a situation is to make a trade!

We trade off our inactive piece for our opponent active piece!

IF White is smart/good Chess player, They are not going to want to initiate this Trade!

I don’t know - It’s just what I am thinking.

I have suggested previously 7...Be6 as ultra-solid, yet unambitious equalizer.

7...Qf6 isn't so bad, but 8.0-0 Bf5 doesn't quite work because of 9.Bxc6 Qxc6 10.Nxe5, or 9...bxc6 10.Nxe5.

The following game may suggest that Black has decent compensation, but actually after the accurate 13.d3! Black is in trouble.

Yeah, I was thinking about taking with pawn.

This the position I was looking at.

White is up 1 pawn + has pawn structure damage, but Black has the Bishop Pair.

A Knight retreat like Nf3 in this position looks scary for White.

Black pieces are very active and I felt like Black had compensation.

The Engine didn’t like Nf3 as move.

The Engine didn’t like keeping the Knight on e5, either.

I looked at few lines where White tries to Prop up Knight and keep it on e5.

The Engine didn’t like those evaluation.

The Engine thinks the best move is Nc4.

The Engine wants Black to Castle after Nc4.

I didn’t like the move Castles for Black because thought White could play Nxd6 trading off Black Bishop Pair that he just worked so hard to get.

Surprisingly the Engine doesn’t want to take Knight, but wants to play d3.

I was thinking after Nc4 - Black was going to have to cash in his Bishop.

The above position ends up being reached and it looks absolutely messy!

I looked at several lines and I think it’s all Messy!

Some lines the Black King is going to d7.

Some lines the Black King is playing f6 & hiding on f7.

———————————

The amazing part is if White does a Queen trade!

The Engine has Clever Fortress idea where it plans to castle Queen side and have the King protect weak Queen Side pawns.

Opposite side Bishops - Maybe, there is nothing there.

I don’t think White would go for the trade so it might be messy position.

Usually:

If black can get away with the center fork trick, he is usually at least equal, if not better.

If white gets to play it there is a big advantage.
