Dude in my point there were so many typos
What is the best book to buy for a 6 year old beginner?
A 6-year-old would need a senior guide to understand things. So, this is one that I believe can be a good pick. Chess is Child's Play by Laura Sherman and Bill Kilpatrick uses an approach for a parent to guide their kids and is interactive enough for kids to stay focused and interested.
i found this senior guide that might work and is based on a series of 2 hour lessons
Chess Course in 12 Lessons for absolute Beginners, seniors. Advice for their Coaches. Never too late!: Learn to play honorably from Scratch: basic Tactics ... basic Ending, winning Moves (Chess manual) Rodolfo Pardi
Most serious teaching methods are aimed towards young and very young students, or to players who wish to become Masters. The multitude of chess books published over the years have not taken senior citizens into consideration. This method instead is adjusted to suit the capabilities of the elderly, taking into account their tendency to be more easily distracted and less focused than a child, and also because of short term memory problems.
Sounds great! That could be quite helpful. However, what I meant was that a 6-year-old would need a senior to guide him/her in learning as the kid might not be able to read a book a understand everything without any advice or guide.
Teacher here. Some of the suggestions here are terrible for a 6 year old kid. Separate the person from the book and you will find the Rozman book will be a wate of money. It's not engaging for little kids.
That was my thought too lol, I think some people completely missed the "6 year old" part
I think any chess books geared towards kids with big illustrations/diagrams are fine. However, unless your 6 year old is a strong reader and is extremely motivated to learn, you are going to have to work through the book with him. So pick a book that you want to teach him out of
If you don't want to teach, then get him a chess app like Dinosaur Chess or a ChessKid subscription.
There is no shortage of beginner chess books, and many ot them are quite good. The first chess book I ever read is such, and I would certainly recommend it,not just to a 6 year old,but for any beginner wishing to up there game. The book is How To Win At Chess-10 Golden Rules To Follow by Daniel King.It was done extremely well, and I still take a peek inside every once in a while, just to appreciate how well it was written.
