Can't find any information about this defense.

1.e4 h6

Seems like a good idea to me because after

2.d4 g5

white probably won't play 3.Nf3 because of the pawn on g5.

My chess program plays

3.h4 gxh4

4.Rxh4

It seems like a bad idea to play 4 Rxh4 because now white can't castle kingside.

Oh great, not another thread promoting a terrible move....

h6 does nothing to address any of the opening principles at all even remotely. It goes against every single one of them. GO back and review them please.

It doesn't control the center and its insanely passive.

Just play regular openings. Honestly, you won't find a startling novelty that can possibly be any good. Follow the basic opening principles and play sound moves.

1.e4 adds control to the centre and prepare the LSB for development

1...h6?! doesn't add nothing to the centre or development and possibly weakens your king position

2.d4 is the natural follow-up, adding further central control and freeing the other bishop.

2...g5?! is again a bizarre move. B king is definitely weakened now, and B is only ready to develop his bishop.

3.h4!? is a principled move but not the only one, W can simply develop thanks to his better central control.

3...gxh4 is a somewhat miserable move to make, forced by B bad position. The h file is now opened and W rook can join the attack

4.Rxh4 is the natural reply (maybe W can also delay this capture). Now we can give a look at the position.

B king is weaker than W, thanks to the semi open g and h files. 0-0 would be suicidal here.

In the centre W is unchallenged.

For the moment both sides are relatively  undeveloped, but it's clear that very soon W will have the advantage in this aspect, thanks to the fact that his central pawns are already advanced.

It's a good idea for B to land in this position?

1.e4 h6? allows white to capitalize with 2.Ke2! centralizing the king with an extra tempo for the endgame, which is most likely winning.

If you are serious about this defense the position after Black's second move is well known among fans of the unorthodox as the Borg defense. Google it and you will find some theory. English IM Mike Basman used it regularly in the 1980's and had some nice victories with it. Below is his win over Jonathan Speelman from 1980.
I play 1. e4, g5; 2. d4 Bg7 occasionally, but I really do not recommend it to anyone.

It's basically a reversed Grobe. It's also possible to play the Modern from 1. ..h6, but the move would prove to have been a waste of a tempo or possibly a weakening in some lines.

Reversed Grob attack or has TheGrobe been contributing to opening theory? Laughing

Oh I meant the Grob not TheGrobe, yes.

I am not sure what the TheGrobe's contributions to opening theory have been, and whether he has employed this opening.

A quick perusal of his online games suggests that he responds to 1. e4 with 1. ... e5, no doubt with Conquistador's 2. Ke2 in mind. No obvious contributions in evidence, alas

I find the line quite playable.
