A bust to kings gambit

I followed fischer bust to kings gambit 3. d6 a high class waiting move. The match was very evenly poised but managed to pull through a win.So fellas better to play kings bishop gambit rather than kings knight gambit as fischer would say kings gambit loses by force.

Avatar of strategicmind

Fezzik did spassky play kings knight gambit or kigns bishop gambit .Because fischer bust is applicable for only kings knight gambit even fischer won a lot of games playing kigns gambit after he published the refutation. But in all those case it is kings bishop gambit.

ok will look out for the game .

White made more than one mistake above, so I wouldn't say this game is evidence of a bust.

Avatar of strategicmind

FEzzik the game was so close but still spaskky did refute fischer bust to some extent

Avatar of strategicmind

sure Fezzik have u read the fischer bust to kigns gambit?

He says about the move d 6 "This is the key move to a troublesome postition, a high class "waiting move." At Mar Del Plata, 1959, I played 3. ....g5 against
Spassky but this is inexact because it gives white drawing
chances in the ensuing ending (see variation).  Another good
try, but also inexact is the Berlin Defense starting with 3. ...h6
(see 2nd variation).  Of Course 3. d5 equalizes, but that's all.

Fischer bust

And black wins. Of course white can always play differently
in which case he merely loses differently.

4.Bc4 is not White's only alternative. Most GM's don't play it now, as better lines have been found.

Avatar of pathfinder416

Sorry, a mistake above ... most GM's don't play it now because they consider d6 inferior for Black and never give White the chance at his own inferior move of 4.Bc4.

PAth finder can you show a game how recent GM play kings gambit ?

For what it's worth - a quick search using the chessgames.com database, ignoring the players' ratings, looking at games from 2000 to present, the King's Knight Gambit yeilded:
3...d6
20 wins  White
20 wins  Black
5  draws

3...g5
35 wins White
37 wins Black
26  draws

3...d5
18  wins White
11 wins  Black
21  draws

3...Be7
8  wins   White
10 wins  Black
3 draws

Yeah if a schisophrenic person like Fischer ever wrote something about anything, by all means keep reciting it like mantra.

Refutations aren't based on a several-decade-old analysis and and 1700 rated game.

Kings gambit declined.

Wow, that Spassky Karpov game was one hell of a fight.  24.h3 is a mysterious move, some one's going to have to explain that one to me.

And to think white survived that N vs R endgame... are you kidding me?  And then not only does he survive he wins?!  I guess the motto "never resign" came in handy for this game.

Avatar of strategicmind

orange sometimes chess eludes explanation, just watch in awe.

Lol. I guess the notion is that any opening where the White plays f4 is "King's Gambit."
