I am playing a daily game with the Alapin against someone who challenged me. I’ll post it here once it’s done
A Bust to the Sicilian Defense
February 10, 1996: the day the Sicilian died. Deep Blue crushes Kasparov with the Alapin, and the chess world mourns
If 2. c3 busted the Sicilian, everyone would play it and there would be no more masters playing the Sicilian.
Who cares what grandmasters play. The strongest chess player of all time is Deep Blue and it exclusively played the Alapin against the Sicilian. That should be all the proof you need
... 1. e4 c5 2. c3 Nf6 3. e5 Nd5 4. d4 cxd4 5. Nf3 dxc3 ... 1-0 No one is even surviving 10 moves against the Alapin.
What if Black had played 5...Nc6 ?

Not true!
Deep blue program was extremely ancient and inefficient software. Deep blue reach max search depth max 18 -22 only. And rated 2900. ( Marginally beat 2800 rated Kasparov).
Current Stockfish is extremely powerful and can reach depth beyond 30+ within a few seconds .
Current Stockfish on common smartphone is 3400+ and desktop is 3500+.
Stockfish on current PC will kill Deepblue by 95-5 in 100 games match.

I probably shouldn't ask this, and it may have been covered in this thread already, but is the delayed Alapin also impossible to beat?

I’m undecided on the delayed Alapin. It certainly has its merits, but I think white is probably better off immediately playing 2. c3

Then black loses in 15 moves instead of 5

You might want to post better evidence here. Your opponent blundering a piece on move 5 shows that this game doesn't deserve to be posted
staples13 you are a 1400+ player at turn based how do you figure you know your back side from a hole in the ground? you have two games going challenge somebody
I’m a little sad when I get called a troll. I’ve worked very hard to try to present an unbiased and analytical representation of how to combat the Sicilian with the Alapin

“... unbiased and analytical ...” ?
@staples13, show more of your standard rapid games, since they are a lot more credible than random blitz and bullet games.
“... I only play blitz and bullet so that’s all I can post. I’d be very willing to post my rapid games if I played any, which I don’t” - staples13 (August 31, 2019)
