As far as I know, and I've been playing for little time, e4. openings are more agressive, but the sicilian is a hard obstacle, so there are also good chances with d4, which by the way most newbies don't know how to respond very well, most of them play almost always e4, and are much more comfortable with it... that's just what i've noticed. I'm starting to try out c4, which is so fun!
