Play the Nimzo-indian! 1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 e6 followed by 3...Bb4 and then capturing the knight.
It really depends on your style of play as to which opening you should play. What works best for you? If you want to win with black it usually means playing sharp, unbalanced openings such as the benoni, kid, gruenfeld, benko gambit, dutch etc. If you want to play solid chess without too much risk (usually means more draws and fewer wins and losses than the more unbalanced choices) play the slav , qgd, nimzo-indian and queens-indian.

Slav is quite good and very used at GM level, although i fell many troubles with it.King s Indian pretty good also if u don t minf leaving the center for your opponent,also King s Indian gives good lines for an agressive game.

Slav is my favorite defense against d4, and i prefer the variation like: 1.d4 d5 2.c4 c6 3. Nc3 Nf6 4. Nc3 e6 5. e3 a6?! solid i think :-)
I try to transpose into the French with e6. After c4, I usually play d5. On such game would go 1.d4 e6 2.c4 d5 3.Nc3 c6 4.Nf3 Nf6 5.e3 Nbd7 6.Bd3 dxc4 7.Bxc4 b5 8.Bd3 Bb7 and I try for a c5 break.
I like grünfeld, but that's only because it's the opening that's closest to my playing style. Dutch defence is also an option, as Staunton gambit also makes for interresting games :)

I'm another nimzo-indian fan.
I'm disappointed that I'm only the second person to suggest the Dutch Defense. 
I alternate between Benko Gambit and Modern Benoni, both can be ultra-sharp with tons of counterplay for black.
King's indian, grunfeld, benoni which is the best weapon to agianst d4?
