Aggressive responses to 1.e4?

Hello!

I like to play chess where the position is open and attacking, where there isn't too much central tension and the position is not boring.

What is the opening which best suit this criteria?

I am thinking about a variation in the sicilian, but don't know which one to choose.

Any feedback from players (Higher rated than me please) would be great!

ConfusedGhoul

Evans Gambit gives you attacking chances while keeping Black passive. The Open Sicilian is also a strong choice for big attacks, but the main drawback is that Black has aggressive ideas of his own as well

ConfusedGhoul

sorry I didn't notice you were asking about Black openings! Then Sicilian Dragon is probably the soundest all-out Defense there is

Sicilian dragon was very useful when I was 1000. The kings indian is another. The modern and pirc too. The  most aggressive openings are like Najdorf and Taimanov and Kan sicilian and  stuff, but that is for 2000s. Has too much theory. I will only use that later.

You're recommending some of the most theory dense openings there are, at the U1800 level theory or no theory doesn't matter. Play everything!

What did aggressive players like Fischer and Kasparov play as black?

indeed. all very good advice! But you know, we all started as beginners... soo yeah, all I can say is (after 30 years of experience) there really is no "aggressive " defense ~just aggressive people! Please forget that nonsense! "Counter-attacking", "sharp defense " ok👍🏼. Remember guys, on Defense you have to Equalize First! please google "equalize" if you don't know wtf I'm getting at. Unless your opponent blunders badly or accumulates too many mistakes there is no instant kill. You will have to grind, pull hairs out, smoke cigarettes to even eck out a draw! As you gain experience ok . You will know what to do AFTER you equalize, till then my friends, rest assured at night knowing there is no such thing as a silver bullet in chess, an "aggressive" defense. Just don't worry about it! Just play, cuz playin's always the thing with me ✌🏽

Mate, I would take your advice, until I realised you're only 1550 after 30 years of experience

2007 daily is nothing to joke at.

Pretty sure If I played for 30 years I could reach that

Yeah, it's incredible how well people play even at 1500, a 1500 daily game is probably at least similar in quality to a 2000 rapid game

maybe they just actually think about their moves lol

Unlike us yes maybe they spend time not hanging queens.

MyNameIsNotBuddy

I feel like I've heard similar questions, but what do you mean by aggressive... going for the opponent's king from move 1?

najdorf96

indeed. I've been playing & commenting here on this site for a long long time. It's fair game if someone just looks at current ratings. Cool. Me? I don't look at someone's rating when responding to posts, I just look at what they have to say because that's how I relate to people in real life in real-time. Of course, you don't have to agree with my opinion or whatever and that's ok✌🏽. But you know, heh sometimes it's kinda funny to actually see a disparaging reply and their ratings. Son, my record here on this site (if you bothered to check everything ) speaks for itself and if anything, at least show some respect for your elders. Even if it's online.

Don't bother him, people like him don't even deserve an intelligent response.

Thank you my friend 👍🏼. But I had to try at least, even if I didn't help from his perspective. It's all good ✌🏽 I hope he really does play for 30 years like I have and pass on whatever he learned & experienced to the next gen. Just keep playin Cuz playin's always the thing with me😉

Thank you for demonstrating how you think we should respond to them

EmeraldNighthawk

I would go for the Sicilian Defense, either the Open or the Dragon variation in order to be aggressive as Black.
