Please help... I need a counter(for black) I literally lose every game I play it

Avatar of firehead03

i too face problem in it

I looked in the explorer, and it seems hard to counter. It looks as if you get an Alekine's defense-ish position with the main line?

But i had piece up with a IM in tht line

Avatar of firehead03

Mmk, and after Nf6? Just develop like dragon style or more Najdorf/classical

Nonono Nf6 is a completely different creature from open Sicilians.

after Nf6 e5 Nd5 it becomes a grind

when your opponent plays the alapin you get no attacking chances. It is a grind.

Literally a ton and a half of sound lines against it.

Something like 2...d5 3.exd5 Qxd5 4.d4 Nf6 5.Nf3 e6 can be played without the need of learning a lot of theory. You just need to know how to fight against an IQP, and how to develop rapidly instead of going for dubious material gains.

Here is just an uncommented recent game to study carefully- 99 more of them, and you are all set.

Line 1: 1. e4 c5 2. c3 d5! 3. exd Qxd 4. d4 Nf6 5. Nf3 e6 6. Na3 (threatening Bc4) 6...Qd8 7. Nc2 Be7

Line 2: 1. e4 c5 2. c3 Nf6! 3. e5 Nd5 4. d4 cxd 5. Nf3 e6 6. cxd b6 7. Bc4 Bb7

Line 3: 1. e4 c5 2. c3 e6! 3. d4 d5 4. exd Qxd (same thing as line 1)

These are not counters, but they are pretty good from my experience.

Only problem is is I normally play Najdorf so my second move is D6

You have to develop differently against anti Sicilians. Because the Sicilian is no system.

Hmm, all the counters to the alapin it seems don’t start off with my move D6 lol
