I suppose the knight would say "there's always e2 and h3"
Ask the Knight on g1 what he thinks of the move f3

"Why can't I move in a straight line like all the other pieces? My legs are going lame from always moving around corners."

i play the saemish and am often confused when i look at the bizarre long manouvering high level players take to bring this knight eventually to e3 or something. im usually happy to leave the knight on g1 where it guards the f3 pawn after g4 etc. when i eventually move this knight its usually h3 f2 where it seems more useful than e3 (and takes a couple less moves)
My favorite is to maneuver the queen's knight to g3 while the king's knight is still on b1.
I have heard the quote about the knight as well, "what do you think the knight would say about f3". OP you should tell people what you're talking about.
In my opinion it's a stupid sentiment. The knight is often well placed on e2 and it's a meaningless saying. GMs are allowed to say stupid things like anyone else.

I play the Samisch KID as white and I get good results with it.
You could just as well ask the f-pawn what the clumsy knight is doing sitting in front of him, preventing him from solidifying the white centre.

He also claimed that 3.d4 in the Sicilian is a cheap trick.
I'm pretty sure he was joking when he said that.

"Sigh ... those lowly pawns get to take the position explicitly reserved for an officer like myself. Oh well. Talk about grumpy chess-generals ..."
Are you a Kings Indian player? Are you a Samisch player? Ask the knight on g1 what he thinks about the move f3! What do you think he would say?
