There are several strong openings. The strongest are generally considered to be 1.e4 and 1.d4 with 1.c4 and 1.Nf3 up there as well. I also generally consider 1.b3, 1.g3 and 1.f4 to be playable openings as well. I like 1.f4 too much to switch to anything else.
