guys what would you say is the best chess gambit?
For beginners i would say fried liver is a good one
I also like evans gambit and the scotch gambit
If you like positonal play and king safety, I highly recommend queens gambit
First off, the Queen's Gambit is not a real gambit.
Second, gambits suck. I can only think of a few that I ever wind up in, and in legitimate, over the board play, I only play them from the side receiving the material. They would be:
Cochrane Gambit - 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nf6 3.Nxe5 d6 4.Nxf7? Kxf7 advantage Black
Milner-Barry Gambit - 1.d4 e6 2.e4 d5 3.e5 c5 4.c3 Qb6 5.Nf3 Nc6 6.Bd3?! cxd4 slight advantage Black
Kings Gambit - 1.e4 e5 2.f4?! and now 2...Bc5 is already equal while 2...d5, 2...exf4 3.Nf3 g5, 2...exf4 3.Nf3 d5, and 2.exf4 3.Bc4 d5 are all advantage Black
Danish Gambit - 1.e4 e5 2.d4?! exd4 3.c3 dxc3 (3...d5 is strong too) 4.Bc4 cxb2 5.Bxb2 d5! 6.Bxd5 Nf6 7.Bxf7+ Kxf7 8.Qxd8 Bb4+ 9.Qd2 Bxd2+ 10.Nxd2 and White has nothing.
These are about the only 4 I play regularly, and only play them from the Black side pretty much in the move order given above. Gambits are not good!
The only gambit I occasionally play where I would be the one giving up the pawn is From's Gambit - 1.f4 e5 2.fxe5 d6 3.exd6 Bxd6 4.Nf3 Nf6 (4...g5 is busted).
Only gambit I ever wind up on the White side of is the Englund Gambit (1.d4 e5? 2.dxe5 advantage White).
