Hi guys I’m wondering how to get a good start and a quick advantage with a good opening rather than the mate in 4 try using e4 like an idiot. Any suggestion?

I prefer playing 1.e4 as my opening move with the Italian Game, as opposed to the Ruy Lopez. Additionally, I tend to avoid 1.d4 since I am not as comfortable with closed positions. For players who prefer tactical play, I would recommend 1.e4 as a strong opening move. However, if you prefer more positional play, options such as the Queen's Gambit Declined, King's Indian Defense, or London System, which start with 1.d4, may be more suitable.

I would not worry about openings and just learn general principles such as controlling the center and developing your pieces to good squares. As a beginner, you should go e4 before you go anything else just to experience the positions it brings. Once you get better and develop a style (usually around 1200 but it’s different for everyone) you can decide if you like tactical, closed, or slow and dynamic positions better.
