b : 3...dxc3 is stronger: to refute a gambit, accept it.

looking at STATS under 2000, 2...Nc6, the Nimzowitsch Defense: Kennedy Variation PERFORMS slightly better than anything else if, like me, you think how a line PLAYS is way more important than what any grandmaster or stockfish thinks. the objective strongest reply doesn't always translate as such. stockfish likes 2...exd4. 

 

2...d5 3.dxe5 dxe4 4.Qxd8+ is terrible! i actually beat chessmaster's tal personality trying to figure it out from the scandinavian move order and found it so fugly, i switched sides and actually beat tal with no takebacks and even using less time as a lowly 1450! i wouldn't recommend symmetry at all here, unless you like your king a sitting target

2... exd4 3. Qxd4 Nc6 4. Qd3 and then you can follow with natural developing moves and castling kingside.
