Bird's Opening!

How strong is the opening for white and what is the most worrysome reply for black for against the line.

while the bird is not as good as the more common 1st moves, it is stronger than most think.

I think the best reply for black would be- 1.f4 d5 2.Nf3 Nf6 3.b3 g6 4.Bb2 Bg7 5.e3 0-0

other moves from black tend to give white some wiggle-room in some lines to gain time.

If you wish to play the Bird's opening: Then I recommend the following:

1. Study From's gambit, it's quite possibly the sharpest opening in chess.

2. Watch Krakkaskak's videos on the Polar Bear system on YouTube. They are great.

its a shame that the birds isnt more common, as I agree- the Froms gambit is the most entertaining gambits Ive seen.

the work Ive done it on it though suggests that white does get an upper hand in the mainline, which is why black players are changing it up

Thank you all for your comments ,the book by Timothy Taylor on Bird's Opening has being of great use to me and has made my lines stronger.
