Californian Opening

Didn't know this opening was already named and stuff, apologies.

Yigor

It's a variation of Albin Countergambit (with e3 and Nc6). peshka

The last variation shown is an important line of the Chigorin 1. d4 d5 2. c4 Nc6 3. cxd5. There are thousands of games with it already.

I imagine Steazr hiking in the local mountains. He invents names for all the mountains that he sees, never thinking that they probably already have a name.

Not only do some of these lines come from the Chigorin, but also the QGA. The LA Siege line can be reached from 1. d4 d5 2. c4 dxc4 3. e3 e5 4. Bxc4 Nc6 5. Nf3 exd4 6. exd4. Although I think many people with black, myself included, would play 5…e4 instead (where white is better but there are a lot of fun little surprises along the way, including some of my favorite prep happy.png ).

This looks like an inferior QGA opening. Can you describe what's different about your opening with a few examples?
