I looked at the Game Explorer tool on this site...
I'm not quite sure what the problem is and I don't know how you ended up in a Queen trade with the main lines I'm looking at.
Do you have a link to the game we could all look at? Or even post the game here...

Your description of the opening is quite vague; however, the main line is the Panov attack. It's not something to be scared of; Black gets equality. It transposes to Queen Pawn openings.
