I am looking at the game Gligoic - Smyslov, Moscow 1963, 0-1. On move 10 Smyslov playes ...a5 and Stockfish agrees. Can anyone explain why?

- does he want to challange the bishop?

- does he want a queenside attack?

- or anything else?

Hm, maybe I should have finished the game before asking. Yes he wants to challenge the bishop (15. ...a4) and yes he wants a (crafty) queenside attack (16. ...Qxb2).
