Cheap Bullet Trick against the London

The first one I've played in bullet and had white premove Nf6 several times. Free bishop. I've had this happen four times.

So what if there is no premove and the bishop takes the pawn? He blunders bishop. I've had this happen at least a dozen time.

What if they are smart and don't take the pawn? Well, you know, you just figure something out.

See, I stopped pre-moving after black started playing 1... e5 all the time and I would lose my bishop. Surprisingly I would still win a good half of them because I would just play fast.

This is also why you play Nf3 before e3, then you won't even have the chance. I sometimes will throw out a trick like this once and a while if I'm playing someone who is always pre-moving, but this is why pre-moves in the opening don't work

I never ever ever ever try cheap dirty tricks. It's not who I am, but it's the London System, so there's that. Pretty good that you still manage to win. I've never actually lost in that position, even when they decide to play on.

I doubt you can figure a lot out in a bullet game... This seems to be a fairly popular trick. If white does not fall for it he usually goes 4.Bg3 and you would have to prepare something there to save the game which is not easy. White is better. I prefer 3...Qb6 in blitz or rapid if I play this opening.

Nice one.

I really hate when they play 2.Bg5 and 3. Bxd8... :-(

I’m still confused

...e5 Bxe5 + ...f6 and ...g5 wins the bishop.

I don't think many White players will fall for this though... and my king side will be exposed

If black is smart and just retreats the bishop, you can always play a Leningrad Dutch, and you're no worse off than you would be otherwise playing the Dutch. Sure you're worse, but really not any worse than you are playing the Leningrad anyway. It's not like you're losing if your attempt to trick the London fails.

@jenium - most good players don't fall for the second trick, but I'm telling you, it happens a lot in bullet. I was just looking at some numbers, and it appears to happen more often to good players than to bad ones, since they are more likely to premove I'm guessing. It's also happened 89 times even in rapid games, likely because of premoves.

As I said, the Leningrad isn't a bad opening if you have to play it, and your queen already has access to the b6 square, which is often where it belongs in the London as black since the white bishop is already out of the pawn chain.

Ok. Additional cheap trick London bullet theory.

What if they bring out their knight early to prevent the g5 push? Why snap it off, of course. This just happened and I had a move 7 resignation. I swear this happens more often than you can imagine.

I look to set this Qa5 trap a lot as black. Has never worked yet! I bet the day I see someone pull it off, I will be the one playing white.meh.png
