I get annoyed by Lasker's defence. Hard for white to win because the position is simplified.
Here is something sharp against the Lasker :
h4 was a stunning novelty played by Aronian, who defeated Harikrishna in 2011.
Black found ideas to hold, but it puts some life in this opening!
The same idea is possible against the Tartakover.
Exactly. There is no reason to play into the Lasker QGD in 2018, many more ways to press for advantage that are even less theoretical, its a win-win.
In 2018 there are just as much problems for white getting an advantage against the exchange, or semi-tarrasch if 4exd5, and Bf4. Kornev, for example, proposes a rep https://www.chessdirect.co.uk/acatalog/Play-1.d4-d5-2.c4-e6--x8818.html which is just as bomb proof as any Berlin or Petroff based one. Most 1.d4 are extraordinarily confident playing against the queens gambit declined though, even though they have little objective reason to be.
