Well....
Carlsen is the highest rated player in the world, by a fair margin. And is also reigning champion. Any reason I shouldn't consider him the best?
best at what? attacking? defending? if you mean overall i aswell as everyone else who follows chess recently may go with the world champion. Hes got that title for a reason, aswell as the highest rating ever
