ChessBase DVD's for the opening

Do you need ChessBase to watch these? Or can you just watch them with a DVD player hooked to a Mac laptop?

I know, I know. It is a helluva a challenging question, even for GM's.

I think the videos can be watched, they are movie files that you can open from your computer. For the most part, Mac's aren't the best for chess software compared to Windows PCs....I own one of each.

I am thinking that the OP's problem is that there is no version of Chessbase reader for the Mac

Thanks everyone. I didn't understand "DVD" with chessboard and talking GM like other DVD's I have seen (such as Susan Polgar's) and still not be able to run the DVD because i am watching a DVD on my Mac.

So if I purchase a ChessBase DVD, I should be able to watch it on my Mac that runs Windows and has an old version of ChessBase, because the reader already comes with each DVD? I just don't want to buy a DVD, then realize I need to buy/download a few other things before it works.

Thanks, bit of a bummer... I was also hoping I could just pop one of these DVD's into my DVD player for my TV and watch while attempting what people call "exercise."
