Could you please post your Traxler games with 5 B*f7+ with win by either side?

Please post in game editor with analysis. Do you think that after 5 Bxf7+ white has an advantage? 5Nxf7+ is bad for white. Right?

Yes, 5.Bxf7 is slightly stronger than 5.Nxf7, but it takes Houdini a couple of minutes to determine this.  Inititally, Houdini likes 5.Nxf7.

I opened up one of my databases and did a search on this position, after 4...Bc5.  I found 1,233 games where this position was reached.

White won 450 times, Black won 587 times, and there were 196 draws.

5.Bxf7 was played 45.4% of the time, and 5.Nxf7 was played 44.8% of the time.  (Castling was next, at just 3.7% of the time.)

Thanks MrEdCollins. But, I want you to post your games with 5 Bxf7+. (I also have a Critter 1.6 and Houdini 1.5  Eventhough Critter 1.6 also suggests 5NXf7+ I think that the general consensus is that 5 Bxf7+ is better)

Unless Houdini is wrong and doesn't "understand" this position, it appears as if 5.Nxf7 is slightly better.  It's up to depth 23 now and it still thinks so.  Of course, I have no idea myself... I haven't studied this line and know nothing about the theory.

Sorry, I have no such games of my own with this line.  Others must, so hopefully they will see your post.

What you should do is set up an engine vs engine tournament... Houdini 1.5 against itself, starting from this position.  Let it run overnight and while you're working the next day.  That should give you several dozens of good games to look at and examine.  Post the results back here and let us know what you found out.

Sorry, I cant play tournaments using my arena 3 (free) interface. It doesn't simply work. When I downloaded it first, initially I was able to conduct tournaments. Then, it started not working. I later deleted that interface and re-downloaded it. Still the same problem persists.

Nobody plays traxler?  Links of your games is also very much fine. Anybody plays or played against 5d4 (same moves until then) also please post their games or links of games.

So don't use Arena. 

Arena is buggy.  I don't like it and don't use it.  Use WinBoard or Scid vs. PC.  Both are free and both conduct engine tournaments with no problems.

MY teather (2300) show me a way to win after Nxf7 and thakes the rook or the queen. up 2 pawns or mate

My understanding was that 5. Bxf7+ is a lot better than 5. Nxf7, but I'm not exactly booked up. I like to play traxler and I always hope that white takes with the knight. I found five games for you, you'll have to analyse them yourself for now though. Maybe I will get around to posting my thoughts later, but I can't promise.

After many years of playing two knights I finally got around to trying this opening.  It is always fun to throw every piece away and win even if it isn't sound.
