white usually plays for 3.c4 to be a proper creepy crawly. 

Basman is a chess legend though capable of playing chess sorcery and do alright. i once saw a game of him crushing an expert with 1.e4 b5? in his old age.  He is a magician that can make the weirdest stuff have winning chances. For most mortals however, stay away from this arachnid.

Played this opening many times over the years with some good success, maybe not as a main opening but certainly playable once or twice per tournament.
