Nf6 is a normal response to Bg5, as you can see there.
For me, I don't take care if white wants to trade their bishop to my knight. With exf6 as response, black has good position in my opinion.

Incidentally, the recommendation after 3. Bxf6 seems to be 3. ... gxf6. "Towards the center" and all that.
i have been having trouble lately as black playing against 1. d4 d5 2. Bg5
can anyone please tell me how i should respond to this opening?
i have been trying 2 ... Nf6 but the knight is then taken by the bishop. is this how i should respond or is there some other way?
any ideas are welcome
