Danish Question

Hi!

I am pretty familiar with the Danish Gambit line. I have a chess tournament tomorrow and I was wondering if I could (and should) use it in standard tie control.

-Thanks

standard time control down 2 pawns from the start = big no no

in blitz, the danish gambit is highly effective.  If your opponent has time to think, though, you are probably better off just sac'ing one pawn or only using the danish gambit against significantly lower rated players than you

If you know the danish gambit play that, I as far as I know the danish gambit hasn't been refuted.

I misread that as deranged, which isn't completely inaccurate.

Let us know how the tournament went, and if there were any interesting Danish games!  White wins in the Danish gambit are always exciting to play over.

Also, if the Danish turns out to be a little too risky for you at standard time controls, you might try the Goring gambit.  It has some similarities with the Danish.

Personally I prefer the single-pawn gambit as opposed to the double.  I'm not really a wild and crazy guy.

I think it's fine enough to play.  A bit of a risk but if that's what you want to play, why not go for it?

If you find it fun to play, I'd give it a shot.  Study up on the various lines though.
