In looking at another member's favorite new pet line that involves 6.f3, i looked into it and saw that 5.f3, the prins, has TREMENDOUS stats at 1600-2000 ratings. I did a bit of digging into games and put together a tree with stats & evaluations and uploaded the pgn for anyone interested. a lot of really strong players use it, and one reply about it in the prins thread said "this is what i dread"
I still love smith morra myself, but if another line can punish more sicilians, have at it!
hope this helps people struggling against the sicilian. I'm guessing that it's BOTH sound (= evals) as well as super aggressive (gambit stats). well, it has to be sound if top GMs are playing it
Fun fact: The prins variation was used by magnus carlsen against sergey karjakin in the 2016 World championship Magnus carlsen won that game using white
