Free (+ some work)-SCID, but the db & functions are lower quality
Here you'll get a large database of games and you can create separate/smaller dbs by opening if you want. I use SCID on the go on my phone.
Filtered by both players 2500 min ELO
3,000+ C42/C43 Petrov games
3200+ A56-A79 Benoni & Benko Gambit
550+ A43/A44 Old Benoni
Some are duplicates & no games after 2017 or before 1990 in mine- Kingbase and you can get the updates from TWIC (a computer to build the db is best)
Searching for similar positions can become a headache
$$$-ChessBase: not sure on the specifics of everything but do know the search capabilities are much better. If I were taking the game seriously, I'd spend the $ in a heartbeat
Recently I have been attempting to formalise an opening repoitre and I wanted to see some GM games in the openings that I wish to play.
Is there a way to download master games in a certain opening, for free? For example, I want to study GM games in the Petroff's Defence / Benoni defence, from lets say titled players over the past 30 years. Is there a free way to download the pgns of all these games and bring them into something like ChessBase / SCID?
Thanks.
