A very poor one at that, based on lack of basic knowledge of the chess fundamentals.

Maybe, but there are other ways to say it, such as : "I disagree with your opinion because..." or "your opinion is this one today, but maybe those other openings will interest you in the future" instead of being unkind right away.

1...e5 is the main defence against 1.e4 of seven, out of ten, top-10 players currently. Saying that 1...e5 is "passive" may mean either that you know nothing about chess, or that you know much more than those players.

Only one of these two choices applies, please pick your own.

Third option : I don't like this opening, example : Fischer and Kasparov playing principally Najdorf sicilian (or other sicilian), and not e4 e5.

Ah yes, I see your point.

Could you please enlighten me how this Sicilian variation is called, cause I can't recall right now?

By the way, it's a Petroff defence, not a sicilian variation.
No need to thank me, it was my pleasure.

Thank you Lim Lom, you're obviously nicer than pfren.

I'll look at the 1. e4 e5 defences, as you advice, though, I'm a little worried about the Italian game (if you know an interesting line for Black, I'd be glad to learn it).

I'd stick to the Caro-Kann defence but my opponent only play 1.e4 c6 2. d4 d5 3. Nd2, so I can't play the c5 line. Maybe should I learn the 4... Nd7 variation.

what do you mean by italian game and what do you mean by interesting

in any case, i think that the two knights fits the bill and you can consider 4.. d5 against d3.

Well, I had one of my quickest routes as Black with the 4...d5 variation.

I won't mention my opponent (white), but the poor guy had fallen in a pit. Obviously Black resigned at the final position, as he must lose a ton of material to prevent mate. I spent some six minutes for the whole game (three of them smoking a cigarette), since the whole line is mentioned at Estrin's book "Drei Offene Eroeffnungen" (don't know the title in Russian, or English).

That is the good news. The bad news are that, with correct play, white gets a considerble advantage.

Two Knights defence ? Well, the most interesting lines for White are definitely with 4. Ng5, not 4. d3, and this leads to the Fried Liver attack.
(and by "Italian game", I meant 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bc4)

Another question :

How should Black continue in this line ?
(After g4, Nxg4 seems risky because Rhg1, f5, Qxe6+, Qxe6, Rxe6, with White having a open file and a strong pressure)

Does anybody has an answer to this question ?

Btw I'd like to know if I'm the only one that finds Closed Ruy/4.d3 Be7 and ...d6 positions interesting?

So what do you play after 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bc4 Nf6 4. Ng5 ?

Insanistis

I'd rather play 4...Nf6, and you should learn the panov.

4...d5 5.ed Na5!

4...d5 5.ed5 Na5, as in the previous post, although the "bad" 5...Nxd5 is also playable.
