don''t you think that queen's gambit is too risky?

I think that queen's gambit has a lot of potential but has 2 main problems. You open the queenside pieces early and you don't know in which side is better to castle.

Maybe i'm right maybe i'm totally out of reality but discuss if you like,i 'll be very happy if you do so..Tongue out

London system looks good but i will not be very happy if after 1.d4d5 2.Nf3 Nf6 3.Bf4 the black play 3.c6!I am not so good against queen pawn opening..

Safest move in the whole game :D

Here is a "safer" way to play it:

I don't think It's too risky. Occasionally, an early decisive advantage may be achieved.

THE QEENS GAMSmileBIT HAS BEEEN MY FAVORATE OPENING EITHER SIDE IS OK

On QGA, Nf3 should be delayed until you're sure black doesn't try to save his pawn with b5?, after your 3.e3. This move causes big trouble for black.

QG is still played at the highest level.  any opening is risky, but if you want to play, you have to risk.  :)

No. In fact a lot of strong players view it as a good way to try and maintain White's advantage of the first move without risking much at all. There are other openings like the London system, the Colle, or the English which might be considered even more solid, but my own view is that if you have the advantage of playing White, why give that away by playing something slow and quiet?  Fight for the center, get your pieces out with a plan in mind, and get after your opponent. Smile

OTOH, there are plenty openings that are a lot riskier, mostly beginning with e4, including a ton of gambits like the Danish gambit, the King's Gambit, the Smith Morra, the Milner Barry, etc, etc.

Thanks for sharing that Mr. Blindside.

Lol, now I know my prejudice that 1.d4 club players are wimps has some basis in fact. The Queens Gambit is a gambit only in name. If black tries to grab pawn immediately, white can regain pawn with Qa4ch for equality, or e3 with big advantage. Even in later pawn grabs like line shown by Blindside, white will get full compensation for pawn. If that worried by being a pawn down can play a early e3, or Qc2 to defend c4.

Normally it is a good sign playing a weak player, if they attempt to hang on to pawn in Queen's Gambit accepted. 1.d4 d5 2c4 pxp 3.Nf3 Nf6 4e3 e6 (or 4...Bg4) 5Bxp a6 60.0 c5 concentrating on development and counter attacking center are more reasonable ways to play. Played like that QGA is a good opening at GM level.

Unfortunately, most of my gambits and queen sacrifices were totally unintentional.

The Queen's Gambit is for wusses who like to draw. Not risky at all.
