Dutch Defense?

I have seen a lot of players hate on the dutch defense and that makes me somewhat nervous to learn and play it in my games. Is there any reason why KID, Grunfeld, etc. are considered in such high regard as responses to 1.d4 over the Dutch?

Opening principles matter!

It's very important to start with the openings that follows good opening principles.

However, you can escape with a weakening your king so early in the game, but it won't help you long term developing your chess understanding.

Dutch is a very fascinating opening to me as well and at some point I will try it.

But openings like "Dutch" which denies following one of the major opening principles ( King safety) is not something to start with in my opinion if you want to get better happy.png

OR if you play for fun and like attacking chess Dutch is a great option, but you have to be careful because the dutch sidelines are very dangerous.
