Ha, thank you. Better even, I can't +1 point for puzzles because my game ratings are too low to give me +, and I don't play regular games... So I am stuck.

Stupid update, frankly. Hey, Chess.com does what they do...

This has nothing to do with regular games. You only get points from puzzles that are rated close to your own puzzle rating, and depending on your speed. Because there isn't a lot of high rated puzzles, you'll get points only from those same ones untill your rating becomes too high to earn points at all.

Like real chess, hikaru mostly gets +1 from winning lower opponents, +3 from winning slightly lower ones. If he were to win all the time (impossible of course), at some point he would not climb any further. But hey, he's n°1.

Hey @justbefair @Martin_Stahl, Thanks for the explanations. I appreciate the clarity around how the new rating math works 😁

My concern isn’t so much about inflation or exact point gains, it’s about what happens next. If my puzzle rating is already higher than nearly all available puzzles, it means I’ve effectively run out of room to grow, even if I keep solving perfectly. That’s what feels somewhat discouraging.

I’m not asking for 'inflated' gains, just a way for people who focus purely on puzzles to still see meaningful progress once they reach that point. Otherwise, it starts to feel like the system isn’t built for puzzle specialists at all now.

The only solution to see meaningful progress after "completing" chess.com puzzles would be to create your own ones, teach, or find a new pool of expert puzzles somewhere else. Old system was just rewarding you with fictitious points, but was it meaningful ? was it even progress ?

Yup, same here. Also, the point gain per puzzle is stuck at +2.

Change your Difficulty to Hard or Extra Hard

Rating isn't meaningful if you cal increase it on every successful solve when you're already 500+ points higher rated. The site's concern is inflation, so having increases in such cases doesn't make sense

But once it gets to a point where you are high enough to not get anything from doing a puzzle, people will stop doing them because you get nothing, and then they will get rusty. I personally would stop if I wasn’t getting anything, and then my tactic spotting would worsen. Bad update.

If you stop doing puzzles because you don't get points for it, it means you see puzzles as an end, and not a tool to improve your chess game. Which is fine, but this is a chess website, and the best way to benefit from puzzles is this new algorithm.

Very few members are going to get to that point.

Found out they changed the rating system without making an announcement. Apparently the new system reflects more accurately. Puzzles are now more specific to skill level however you can change the strength of the Puzzles to gain more points. Go to help ai "Puzzles" for more specifics.
