I like d4 as white...it normally cramps my opponent up and mistakes in the opening aren't as important.
E4 OR D4
Better for what?
If you want a sharp opening move that can get an imbalanced position that will impel the game forward with rapid (rabid?) development and immediate attacking chances, play e4.
If you want to play a more stable, solid game that will probably allow you to creep into the middle game before blundering, play d4.
Or you could keep everyone guessing and play Nf3.
These e4 or d4 threads are getting really redundant...Just search the forums, you will probably find hundreds of posts on this topic.
4.c5 is a MAJOR innaccuracy in the line you posted FifthDimension....
You are supposed to play 4. Nf3 and if 4...e6, then 5.Bg5 (if Black then plays 5...dxc4 then you are up for some 20 move theory in the Botvinnik) and if 4...dxc4 then 5. a4 Bf5 6. Ne5 (or 6.e3 but I like Ne5 better).
Id say Black has the intitiative after 4.c5:

Which is better: E4 Or D4?? Post your thoughts below.
