yeah, sometimes I want to play the scotch, and others I hope they'll play sicilian against me, usually when I'm in an agressive mood.
Emotional Openings

Definitely! When I'm tired, sleepy, all that, the Caro-Kann tends to worm its way out of my repetoire to be played a few times. Let a few swords break on my hide, and then bite back. When I'm energetic and ready to fight, the Sicilian breaks its way out! The opening isn't always indicative of my mood, but it certainly can be. Same kind of deal with the Ruy Lopez and Scotch, Closed Sicilian and Open Sicilian, I'd say.

No. I play the same openings.
Only my amount of blunders is reflective of my mood, which swings from semi-sharp to sleepless zombie.

Emotions hardly change the openings I would play, but they could change my style of playing the middlegame!
Have you ever noticed that openings can often reflect someone's mood? I know I've had one of those "King's gambit days" where all I want to do is launch an angry attack on my opponent. And, on those days when I'm tired, or if I am playing in the early morning, I find myself playing a Guioco Pianissimo. Do any of you find yourselves doing this? What openings do you play when you are feeling different moods?
