i have faced it a lot myself, being a 1 d4 player. the only upside i see for 2..bc5 is black gets dynamic chances if white tries to hold on to the pawn, or somehow plays too timidly. buf if white just plays for quick development, black is going to have to show his hand with d6 or f6 at some point. d6 can be taken, and f6 white can ignore. the best black can get in my opinion is a bad version of the open games. not down material but piece placement is clumsy.

The Englund Gambit seems to be a 1 trick pony. Eric Rosen put up a video showing a new trick pony that is easily countered.
I tried his trick 3 times, it never worked for me. I guess other people saw the video. But since I do play 1.d4 I do run into it. Against equal or inferior players I generally win against it.
Traditional trap starts like this
Rosen's trap starts like this
Is anyone a big proponent of the Englund?
