I never played the Declined Evans gambit and discovered this variation thanks to the very recent Zhu-Pogonina games at the Women World Championship KO (November, 2018)

Interesting, why should black refuse a line which is regarded as good for it (accepting the gambit? Maybe fear of an improvement? Maybe Pogonina forgot it, as is rarely played nowadays?

U are probably right. wink.png It's definitely easier and safer to play the declined version than the tactically complicated accepted gambit that can easily become quite messy. peshka.png
