Just wondering what everyones favorite openings are want to try a few different styles out

benedictus

As white I play 1. d4. If black plays 1... Nf6 I very much enjoy the Four Pawns Attack. Against 1... d5, I play the Queen's Gambit.

As black I just play 1... b6 against pretty much everything, and then I kind of improvise. White usually isn't accustomed to this kind of opening and rarely gets a good attack, so this usually gets me to a solid position for the mid game.

As for 1... b6, you should learn about Owen's Defense (1. e4 b6). Also, look at some of my games using 1... b6 against any of white's first moves (especially look at my games with 20/0 time; I make a lot of mistakes in faster games)

thxs for the comment ive been trying out the queens gambit and having alot of recent success with it im going to look more into your black opening

Conquistador

As white I like the Italian Game and as black I like the Traxler.

so far ive been using the queens gambit as white and a scandinavian defence as black

I used to play Scandinavian (with 2... Qxd5) and I had great results with it against weaker players because it gives black a solid position and decent chances in the mid game. However, intermediate and strong players almost always beat me when I use it. You may also want to try the Scandinavian with 2... Nf6 (I only tried this a couple of times, but I hear it's better than 2... Qxd5)

My personal choice now against 1. e4 is 1... b6 (Owen's Defense). Despite the criticism this opening receives, I get good results with it. There's a great group called 1... b6 which you should check out if you're interested.

If you don't like 1... b6, I would recommend the French Defense. I rarely use it, but during the time when I played 1. e4, this was the opening that I had the most trouble against.

I play the Danish as White and the Pirc as Black and love both of them. Against the Siclian I have several tries such as 2.Nc3, c3 or even d4. These openings have been fun to play even if not 100% correct.
