Wondering if having a favorite is a good thing or bad. Regardless, I like pawn to Queen 4 in the old terminology as white, but black is fine. I'm not a fan of the king's pawn opening. I'd like to learn more about openings though.

Black: French Defense all the way. I prefer when White chooses the Advance Variation.

White: Always played Italian, starting to learn to appreciate some d4 lines.

I would recomend to learm the fried liver attack. Very good. I won a tournement in Sweden because of it. Of course you should learn what you should play in the middlegame. The fried liver is good for 700-1500 player.
