This is my first post on the forum, and so I've decided to display an interesting trap I've just recently used out of the Polish opening.

After 5. Bd3 Black has 5. ...e4 which I believe is winning for Black.

Not completely, white has 6.Bxf6. Best play goes exf3 7.Bxg7 fxg2 8.Rg1 9.Rg7, and White is better.

Another cute mate would be 9.Bxh7+ Kxh8 10.Bf6+ Kg8 11.Rh8+! Kxh8 12.Qh5+ Kg8 13.Qh7#. All checks, easier to calculate for me :-)

Thanks everyone, I hadn't actually seen that fork on e4, but I'd also like to thank SMCB1997 for that continuation.

I am probably missing something of really simple, but why not 6...Bxf6? B is attacking both the a1 rook and the 2 minor pieces. Either there is an hidden tactical resource or W is lost.

6...Bxf6 7.Nc3 exd3 (7...exf3 8.Qxf3) 8.cxd3 white is down a minor piece, but at least they tried.

 6. ...Bxf6 is the reason I said I think Black is winning. White could also try 7. Bxe4 Bxa1 8. c3. Black will have to give the Bishop back sooner or later (probably by taking on c3) and then white will be down Rook for Bishop. The win is not immediate but certain with reasonably good play.
