Okay, I got in a miniature this morning - believe it or not, I hung my rook (not enough coffee!) and he declined it. After that, it was a very fast win for Black. Besides my blunder, in the opening, he did lose (or sack) a pawn - here is the game. The theme of open kingside lines is here as well. I think that is beginning to be a staple in this opening so far.
In spite of my terrible blunder, the opening phase seemed okay for Black. The themes I have been encountering are all there, and the games seem to open very quickly, with Black getting to apply pressure to White's kingside.French 2...g5!? or ?!
It's a very interesting idea. I might try it out some time. (I especially like the thought of playing d6 instead of d5: some modesty in the centre to compensate for the audacity on the flanks.)
"Very fortunately, he declines it. I wish this could happen more often!"
Actually it does happen more often to you than you seem to realize. In your game from post 18 your opponent missed mate in 2 (Rd8+) on move 23, 24 and 26.

Mathijs, I admit that in that game there were times he definitely had the better of me. I am on purpose posting games whether good or bad, just so people can see where I am coming from - maybe they will be able to provide their own ideas to help improve mine as well.
Fezzik, I will see if I can write that article. Thanks for your support!

I know this isn't exactly the way to do this, because it doesn't pull up in the main article. This is the firstfruits of my attempt to create a Wikipedia article, to post this idea in public domain. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Okay, now I finally have a real link on Wikipedia. I am going to try to do what I can to at least put a picture on there of the position - I cannot promise that I am a tech genius! But at the least, the idea is now in public domain.

Thanks for the analysis Conzipe - whether down the line I abandon this, or continue to search, it will be fun for exploration and learning - thank you very much!
I am a little surprised that so many opponents played 2. Nf3 against your French. According to statistics I looked at, it is not a very common second move alternative.

rohan, I am still creating a "personal" repertoire against 1. e4, something I can use for life and be happy with. Against 1. d4, it is the Dutch. Against 1. e4, not yet sure. I do like the ...Nc6 French.
Now, to 2. b3, maybe we could play 2...d5 and do as Conzipe said. I cannot say I would be happy or unhappy with it, as I don't see 2. b3 normally. Against 1. b3, I play 1...f5, so I like the early f-pawn advance. After 2. b3, that is not possible, without a funky gambit system (don't want that). I would at least try Conzipe's idea - it seems natural enough.

That last position (post 19), unless I'm missing something tactical, should be better for Black, since he has two bishops and since he has one pawn island to White's two. But I wouldn't count it as a big edge.

Okay, I am going to post a game I played against 3. h3 earlier today. I admit, I was taking a break at work, but you know how it is at work - still can get distracted. I did make 1-2 bonehead moves in here, still pulled out a win! lol but nevertheless, the most important thing I want to show is how I opened the position. This game fits my idea for what Black's opening setup really looks like. ...Nge7, ...Nc6, ...d6, ...e6, aiming for ...f5 and an opening on the kingside. You can definitely see my blunders, but more important, I want to post the game mistakes and all so that others can see my ideas and find improvements for White or Black. Here goes (this is live 1+5):
Any suggestions on the opening setup for Black, such as 3...Nc6 instead of 3...Bg7?
Openings are my favorite part of the game by far, but recently I haven't had the time like I used to. But yes, I love openings 10x more than the rest of the game lol even than the middlegame, if that makes sense?!?

sounds great would you be interested in helping me in a opening colum I' m starting in one of my groups. PM me if you are I have alot of support so far.

I haven't tried much yet, had a few opportunities. Let me get back at it again, I will let you know! :-) I did lose my first correspondence game with it, but I think I overextended early (trial and error).

I like it - and it looks playable enough! What's great is that you're willing to wander off the beaten path and have some fun with the game.
Awesome, we can call it the Pinson Variation - I guess that sounds better than the BirdBrain variation, no?

I really do like it, I am going to keep working with it until either I don't like it, or I really like it. Guess I have two options :-)
